Introduction
For those who do not know me personally my name is Andrew Scott Lemon. I like to spell my name ANDRU, but it is also commonly changed to Andreu, Andrés, or Andreas.
I am a student in the University of Texas at Arlington. I am planning on going to Paris at the end of this may. I have begun this blog in order to chronicle my trip.
I am currently in the process of getting my passport and buying the things I will need. I don’t leave for another month and a half but I am trying to move on from the past stage of my life into a new one.
The title of the blog requires explanation. “American” is in quotes because I am thinking that being in Europe will help me understand what it means to be American. In the context of being from the United States I consider myself a Texan. Otherwise I think the word “American” more accurately Americans from all of the Americas. As I spend time in Europe I hope to see if there is something that unites all Americans as Americans. Or maybe “Americans” (from the USA) are more closely European… or maybe the other Americans (Latin Americans and Canadians) are more closely in line with European thinking.
